Medium Voltage Transformers (Dry Transformer Rated Power from 50 kVA to 30 MVA)

Medium Voltage Transformers (Dry Transformer Rated Power from 50 kVA to 30 MVA)

Description

Transformers are devices that convert alternating current electrical energy from one voltage level to another through a magnetic field, with the frequency of the voltage remaining unchanged. When selecting a transformer and calculating its characteristics, the rated values are used as the basis. Transformers are primarily used in places where it is necessary to increase the voltage to reduce the current, such as in power stations, or to decrease the voltage to reduce the current, such as in substations and welding machines. A transformer must ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers. Therefore, the number and power of the transformers must be correctly selected during the design phase, both technically and economically. To ensure reliability, the characteristics of the consumer should be taken into account when selecting the transformer.

We offer both oil and epoxy resin insulated dry transformers in our product range.

DRY TRANSFORMERS

In dry cast resin transformers, the complete encapsulation of the primary and secondary windings with epoxy resin prevents moisture from penetrating the windings. The cast resin offers excellent protection against adverse environmental conditions. These transformers can operate at 100% humidity without disturbances.

The windings of dry transformers are cast in epoxy resin, which prevents moisture from entering the windings. The cast resin provides excellent protection against unfavorable environmental conditions. Thanks to high-quality insulating materials, the windings are non-hygroscopic, and the transformer can be switched on without pre-drying even after long-term maintenance. Due to the high-quality insulation material, the dry transformer is virtually non-flammable in case of an electrical arc, and special fire protection measures are not required.

Dry transformers have low losses, low electromagnetic fields, and compact dimensions. They tolerate short-term overloads better than oil-insulated transformers. For long-term overloads, additional cooling is required. Dry transformers are 10-15% more expensive than oil transformers and are primarily used in fire-risk areas, as their fire load is lower than that of oil transformers.
